I grew up and then managed a cash grain and livestock farm in West Point, Indiana. After a 13-year career in production agriculture, I left the farm to pursue a career in Agri-Business. At Cargill Incorporated, I spent 18 years managing the market risk, P&L and sales and general management responsibilities for soybean crushing and vegetable oil refining assets in various locations throughout the U.S.
In 2001 while at Cargill, I developed the NatureWax product line and business. This product line has become the global leader in vegetable wax replacement for petroleum-based paraffin in multiple industries. My team and I developed the business plan, directed product development, created the brand and positioned an umbrella of intellectual property to position the product line as a leader in the industry.
In 2005 as Solutions Commercialization Manager for the Dressings, Sauces and Oils Business Unit at Cargill, I developed and lead the new product commercializtion process for a $1.6 billion dollar business and managed, launched and drove the selection process of selected projects around targeted customers. In addition, I estabilished and managed a change management system across business units to adopt a project post-launch analysis process resulting in improved review of projects.
In December 2007 I became the Executive Vice President, Business Operations at Elevance Renewable Sciences serving as a Senior Leader in a multi-million startup business in Speciality Chemical industry. I served on the Senior Leadership Team in various capacities including International Market Development, Supply Chain and Sustainability.
Today, I am using my experiences in corporate settings to help farmers and ranchers develop and build improved processes and metrics in their family businesses.
